Rooster Weathervane

Rooster weathervane is a device which is used to predict the direction of wind. It is a movable device which is attached to any elevated object mostly roof. They are balanced in such a way that half of its weight is on either side of its axis and the areas exposed to air on both sides are unequal. It minimizes the force of wind and cause vane to rotate.

From past 1,000 years rooster weathervane has been most popular weather vane among all types. Most of them are made up of 11 gauge steel rather than 18 gauge steel used in other types. That’s why they are more durable than others. They have 3-D in design as opposed to 2-D in other types. For further durability they are black coated.

Design of the weathervane causes the end with minimum area to turn into the wind and pointing to the source of the wind. Winds are named from their source direction so pointer enables the spectator to name the wind effortlessly. Some weather vanes have directional markers. They are aligned with geographical directions.
